"BirdFriends"

BirdFriends Perù is a non-profit Ornithological association whose president Warren Perez Barrera is an ornithologist expert and in the process of being very soon certified as an Amphibian expert, given his long years of practice. He also founded Tarapoto Explorations against the backdrop of ecotourism in order to raise as many people as possible aware of the beauty but also the fragility of our biodiversity. He is also an honorary member of our association COP Gironde since we subscribe to the same missions and concerns.

From the association to the eco-operator tour

Peru lives to a great extent on the richness of its biodiversity, despite Brazilian interference in terms of deforestation.
But this grip on the forest has noticeably calmed down although it calls for constant vigilance.

The economy is based on micro-enterprise and ecotourism. The Birdfriends Perù association and those it brings together are considered to be the builders, protectors of biodiversity and benchmarks in terms of bird watching, including hummingbirds. They also work in sanctuaries where hummingbirds and other bird species nest. They enjoy great competence and a lot of pragmatism on a daily basis. But the association goes further in its intentions. Aware of the impact of tourism, of the pedagogy it can generate and of its importance in the role it can play in the context of the preservation of Amazonian biodiversity, BirdFriends Perù has extended its action with
the creation of Tarapoto Explorations, in Tarapoto.

Tarapoto Explorations is centered on ecotourism. Warren Perez Barrera is also the guide and co-owner. Tarapoto Explorations is fully in line with the actions carried out by BirdFriends Perù and its quest to protect biodiversity as well as information and awareness.
The members of BirdFriends Perù are connoisseurs of bird watching and some are business owners.

The role of BirdFriends Perù aims to educate all ages, including children, since we know that through this we also reach parents and adults in general. The premises of the association serve as places of exchange to debate on  all subjects related to biodiversity. Conferences are organized there in this direction.   For example, the association recently hosted  environmental engineering students, in order to make them aware of the environmental cause and its importance for the future of future generations.

Partnership with BirdFriends Péru

COP Gironde provides support and offers assistance (donations) on certain Birdfriends Pérù projects, regardless of their importance . We study the projects on file including the details of the project, the cost, as well as an explanatory video of  presentation that we can translate into 3 languages. Once the project has been selected by Cop Gironde and the funds collected (donations collected by my musical performances or future concerts in which other solidarity artists participate), we send the funds by international transfer in us dollars or Peruvian soil.

The delivery of funds or gift or achievement is accompanied by invoices,  from  videos and photos produced to promote the project.

Our 1st support

Our donation concerns the Region of "La Florida District", Province of Bongora, in the Amazon, in Peru.
The district is better known as Pomacochas and this is where Idelber (our beneficiary farmer) lives.
The site where Idelber and his family live is  exceptional for observing hummingbirds, including the spatula hummingbird and other varieties. But the pandemic has hampered Idelber's birding and identification activity as COVID 19 deprived him of income. To survive all these months, he had to part with some of his cattle. Needless to say, the support he received was more than welcome given his situation. This donation gives him hope and allows him to restart his observation activity and even to welcome tourists.

The donation from COP Gironde consisted of offering equipment and covering ancillary costs.
700 € sent (825 US dollars) corresponding to 3300 Sol PEN (Peru) were sent.

On 12/08/2021 the donations collected were 780 euros "We did it !!!!"

Below, the Birdfriends Pérù Facebook page, as well as 3 videos about the  support provided to Idelber, with subtitles in French, Spanish and English.
