Paradise Exists!
Founded in 1782, Tarapoto known as the "beautiful palm trees" is an important town in the San Martin region, located on the plateaus of northern Peru. It acts as the gateway to the high jungle of the northeast, an hour's flight from Lima. This region is famous for its good food, its magnificent landscapes and above all its unique birds, including the Hummingbird.
It is not, strictly speaking, what is called a city of 1st destination, wrongly. Indeed, it is far from the traditional coastal circuits of the north and even further from the popular Gringo Trail, in the south, very touristy. At first glance, it also does not have the appearance of the picturesque place some visitors might expect, with its facades in heterogeneous styles and its immediate rather agricultural surroundings, while its location suggests an immersion in the jungle. But its charm lies above all in the exceptional flora and fauna that surround it and tourism focused on the riches of this remarkable site which is full of real natural treasures.
